We recommend a visit to Casa Rossini with the exhibition dedicated to "The journey to Reims".
The exhibition aims to retrace the fortune of Rossini's opera from its first debut to the most recent performances, with particular reference to the unforgettable "premiere" of the Rossini Opera Festival. Curated by Catia Amati, Lightsa Ferrati, Maria Chiara Mazzi and Andrea Parissi, with the collaboration of Sergio Ragni and Luigi Cuoco, it will be divided between Casa Rossini - where scores, period librettos, engravings and photographs of ancient and contemporary performers will be exhibited, posters, stage costumes, theater programs and posters of the ROF performances - and the Rossini National Museum.

We suggest the Rossini Gourmet experience: Audio-guided tasting of Rossini's recipes. Gioachino Rossini was a great connoisseur of gastronomy, an expert gourmand and lover of good food.

STORY
Ermione, a tragic action in two acts with a libretto by Andrea Leone Tottola, was performed for the first time at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples on 27 March 1819.
The performers of the first performance were Isabella Colbran (Ermione), Rosmunda Pisaroni (Andromache), Andrea Nozzari (Pirro), Giovanni David (Orestes), Giuseppe Ciccimarra (Pylades), Michele Benedetti (Phoenician), Maria Manzi (Cleone), De Bernardis ( Cefisa) and Gaetano Chizzola (Attalo).
The STORY is based on the tragedy Andromaque by Jean Racine.
Casa Rossini

Gioachino Rossini's birthplace is located on the ancient "Via del Duomo" (today Via Rossini). The construction of the ground and first floors dates back to the 15th century, while the two upper floors were added later. In the first decades of the eighteenth century, a substantial renovation involved the facade and interior, consisting of four floors and a basement. Rossini was born in this house on 29 February 1792 as recalled by the commemorative inscription placed in a room on the first floor: "The divine art of music arose in this room at the birth of Gioacchino Rossini". The composer spent the first years of his life here with his family. Of the original structure it is possible today to admire the shutters of the arched windows, the fireplaces blackened by smoke and some elements of an ancient kitchen. In 1892, one hundred years after Rossini's birth, the Municipality of Pesaro purchased the palace and used it as a museum; in 1904 it was declared a national monument.

The project will bring to light the sets, costumes and elements that have made the creation of unforgettable opera performances possible over the course of over forty years. This historical heritage, previously hidden in warehouses, now comes back to life in the form of an artistic intervention spread throughout the urban space. What was once an installation, such as the magnificent cake used in the scenography of the opera "Adina" in 2018, now becomes an installation accessible to visitors, transforming into a sort of doll's house into which one can enter. The scenography offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in an enchanted world, allowing the revaluation of previously disused materials. The sets and costumes of the ROF (Rossini Opera Festival) will also be exhibited in dedicated spaces and in the shops of the centre, offering everyone the opportunity to admire and appreciate the beauty and creativity that made the creation of 76 extraordinary opera productions possible.

STORY
L’equivoco stravagante, a playful drama in two acts with a libretto by Gaetano Gasbarri, was performed for the first time at the Teatro del Corso in Bologna on 26 October 1811. The performers of the first performance were Maria Marcolini (Ernestina), Tommaso Berti (Ermanno), Domenico Vaccani (Gamberotto), Paolo Rosich (Buralicchio), Angiola Chies (Rosalia), Giuseppe Spirito (Frontino).
In the absence of the autograph manuscript, the critical edition was carried out by examining surviving nineteenth-century sources, in particular using a copy preserved in Paris.
Open-air sculpture itinerary

Art lovers will be able to discover a widespread urban park in Pesaro with important contemporary outdoor sculptures, scattered between the seafront, the historic center and the suburbs, which can become stops on an interesting thematic itinerary. In Piazzale della Libertà, La Sfera Grande by Arnaldo Pomodoro (1971 -1998) was one of the first interventions and is now the symbol of Pesaro. In Piazza Toschi-Mosca there is The Sculpture of Memory (2018), a monumental marble work by Giuliano Vangi, and another masterpiece is L'Occhio del Cielo n2 (2005) by Eliseo Mattiacci, a steel spiral that evokes celestial motions, in dialogue with the copper stele I Segni della Memoria by Giovanni Gentiletti, installed here in 2022. The works of the widespread urban park are many and we recommend following the itinerary of the Municipality of Pesaro.

PATH FROM RAPHAEL TO LAZZARINI IN THE DRAWINGS OF THE OLIVERIANA IN PESARO.

The Oliveriana Library of Pesaro preserves an important collection of drawings donated at the end of the nineteenth century by the Marquis Ciro Antaldi Santinelli (1825-1907). This collection, started in Urbino thanks to the painter Timoteo Viti (1469-1523), friend and collaborator of Raphael, had been famous between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries for the large number of Raphaelesque autographs which made it unique and which, sold by the ancient owners in various occasions, today constitute the pride of the most important museums in the world. Only one of these drawings remains in Pesaro. However, the same collection also contains other important sheets by Federico Barocci, Simone Cantarini and Giovanni Andrea Lazzarini, artists strongly linked to the territory and to Raphael's work.

An exhibition that celebrates "Raffaello Pesaro", his actual drawing, the other graphic works, once also from Pesaro, which magically return home, but also the sheets of Federico Barocci, also a protagonist of 2024.

STORY
Almaviva, or The Useless Precaution, later called The Barber of Seville, a buffo melodrama in two acts with a libretto by Cesare Sterbini, was performed for the first time at the Teatro Argentina in Rome on 20 February 1816.
Performers of the first performance: Emanuele Garcia (Almaviva), Bartolomeo Botticelli (Bartolo), Geltrude Righetti-Giorgi (Rosina), Luigi Zamboni (Figaro), Zenobio Vitarelli (Basilio), Elisabetta Loiselet (Berta), Paolo Biagelli (Fiorello).
The STORY is taken from the famous Le barbier de Seville ou La précaution useless by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (1775).

Museo Archeologico Oliveriano

The Oliveriano Archaeological Museum was born together with the Oliveriana Library thanks to the donation of Annibale Degli Abbati Olivieri, which occurred with the Testament drawn up in 1756. The donation was further increased by the subsequent bequest of 1787, thanks to which not only other volumes and finds collected by Olivieri, but also those belonging to Giovan Battista Passeri, who wanted to follow the example of his patron friend. It is also possible to admire the rich collection of marble epigraphs, dating from the archaic Roman age to the Renaissance, which adorns the courtyard area and the walls of the marble balustraded staircase of Palazzo Almerici, as well as memorial stones and marbles of local origin; upon entering the Library, the collections of ivories, bronzes, gems, cameos, coins, medals and plaques are visible: an opportunity also to admire the wonderful frescoes by Carlo Paolucci from Urbino, a pupil of Giannandrea Lazzarini.
