Saturday 05 July ‘25 – 2nd day - Loreto and Recanati (by coach)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning: Meeting with the authorized guide in the hotel lobby and departure by coach for Loreto, where you can breathe the mystical atmosphere that inspired the last years of Lotto, and which translated into a series of works for the city's Sanctuary.
Visit to the Sanctuary, a symbolic place of Christianity that houses the Holy House of Nazareth where Mary was born. Destination for pilgrims and art lovers.

The Holy House is the very house in Nazareth where Mary was born, educated and received the angelic announcement. The house consisted of a brick room with three stone walls closing off a cave dug into the rock, transported to Loreto in 1294. From the mid-1400s, to protect the walls and accommodate the crowds of pilgrims, work began on the construction of the Sanctuary. Among the most valuable works is the marble cladding that envelops the walls of the Holy House, designed by Bramante. In 1600, Carlo Maderno created the fountain in the sanctuary square, while in 1700, Luigi Vanvitelli built the bell tower that stands out on the left side of the basilica. The entire city of Loreto developed around the Sanctuary of the Holy House, immersed in the tranquility of the splendid Marche countryside.

Continue to nearby Recanati which stands on the famous Colli dell'Infinito of the Riviera del Conero. The city is famous for being the birthplace of the illustrious poet Giacomo Leopardi and the famous tenor Beniamino Gigli.

1.00 pm: Lunch in Recanati in a selected restaurant.

After lunch, guided tour of the places connected to Leopardi, such as: Library, House and Museum.

Afternoon: Return to the hotel by bus.
Free dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Giacomo Leopardi and his places
Giacomo Leopardi was born on June 29, 1798, in Recanati, and from his earliest years demonstrated an extraordinary intelligence and a particular desire to learn. The guided tour of the Leopardi places will begin in the ancient rooms of the library, where over 20,000 volumes are collected, most of which were consulted by Giacomo; it is here that the Poet studied and was educated under the guidance of his father Monaldo. Afterwards, we recommend a visit to the private rooms of the palace, in the garden that inspired the immortal verses of Le ricordanze, telling you about the life of the young Leopardi brothers and introducing you to the Poet's apartments. Finally, the Museum, where a substantial heritage of objects, documents and writings belonging to Giacomo Leopardi and his family is preserved.
