Mens sana in divinam terram

A tour between monasteries and delicacies of the Marche

3 days / 2 nights - Travel Idea
Suggested time: Spring/Autumn

Le Marche, a region with a thousand facets: this time we discover its most sacred side with visits to the monasteries, homes of great artistic and cultural treasures.

A journey to discover the places of silence in the north of the Marche: from the hermitage of Monte Giove to the monastery of Fonte Avellana with the ancient pharmacies, both built on the model of the Camaldolese hermitages in Tuscany. Perfect place for the seminar on good eating habits to connect body, mind and spirit.

We will discover the treasures of Pesaro, the mosaics of the Cathedral and the historic underground Fano, an unusual and surprising part, like the precious gastronomic products of these lands: the famous Acqualagna truffle.

We will admire the beauty of small but wonderful churches in the province, delighted by private concerts with high-level musicians.

The itinerary is designed to regenerate spirit and mind in a Divine Land.

Day 1 - Arrival at Pesaro / Eremo di Monte Giove / Fano

Independent arrival and accommodation at Hotel Villa Cattani Stuart 4* or similar.

Villa Cattani Stuart is one of the most famous historic homes in the province of Pesaro and Urbino and the Marche. The Villa and its fantastic Italian gardens date back to a period between 1630 and 1680. The rooms of the Villa Cattani Stuart hotel offer high standard hospitality in prestigious environments, enriched by every type of service, starting with a discreet and attentive welcome.

Welcome lunch.

Departure by coach to visit the Eremo di Monte Giove.

The architectural structure of the Eremo di Monte Giove reflects the model of the Eremo di Camaldoli from which all the hermitages built by the Coronese Monks required sober and functional buildings. You reach the entrance by going up a short avenue at the end of which you enter the large entrance hall, highlighting the bright central path that leads to the eighteenth-century church. Next to the entrance are the Ancient Pharmacy and access to the panoramic terrace. At the beginning of the avenue, on the right side there is the guesthouse and conference room, while on the left the refectory, the library and the kitchen. On the sides of the avenue there are the monks' cells, three on the right side and six on the left. Each cell is structured to allow the monk to have the necessary space for prayer, study, rest, and a small garden.

Seminar “THE ELIXIR OF LONG LIFE”
Edited by a biologist and a herbalist, on good habits and foods for our well-being.

Transfer to Fano and visit to “Fano sotterranea”.

The Montanari Media Library has been opened in the center of the city of Fano, which preserves the remains of ancient Roman structures in its basement. Today it is known as the AUGUSTEUM of FANUM FORTUNAE, the highly prestigious building dedicated to the imperial cult, among the most sumptuous in the region. An immersion in an unknown Fano, among the alleys, tunnels, underground tunnels of the city and which leads to the discovery of unusual and evocative places.

Dinner in a typical Marche restaurant in the center of Fano.

Day 2 - Monastero di Fonte Avellana / Acqualagna

Breakfast.

Departure by bus to the Monastero di Fonte Avellana and visit to the Botanical Garden with a biologist and herbalist. Stop at the Pharmacy of the Camaldolese Monks.

The Monastero di Fonte Avellana is a fascinating place, steeped in art and history. It is located on the slopes of Monte Catria at 700 meters above sea level. Its origins date back to the end of the first millennium and are closely linked to the history of the Camaldolese congregation. Its origins date back to the end of the 10th century, around 980, when some hermits chose to build the first cells of a hermitage which over the centuries would become the current monastery. The spirituality of these hermits was influenced by Saint Romualdo of Ravenna, father of the Camaldolese Benedictine Congregation. Built as an abbey in 1325, Fonte Avellana became a true socio-economic power. After the Napoleonic suppression of 1810 it returned under the management of the Camaldolese monks in 1935.

Lunch in Acqualagna based on truffles, a precious gastronomic product generated precisely by the lands of this area, where two-thirds of the national production is concentrated. Between the end of October and the beginning of November, the National White Truffle Fair takes place in the historic center, an occasion that has given Acqualagna the opportunity to become the capital of this prized product.

Departure by bus towards Fossombrone, with a guided tour of the Concathedral or Church of Sant'Aldebrando, the Sacristy and the underground.

The Church dates back to the ancient Benedictine Abbey of San Maurenzio, but was almost completely rebuilt between 1776 and '84 in neoclassical style based on a design by Cosimo Morelli, who changed its orientation, adopting the north-south axis, maintaining the fifteenth century bell tower.

Private concert in a small church in Fossombrone.
PRIVATE CONCERT OF SACRED MUSIC

Ensemble Aurata Fonte

It was born from precious meetings and a continuous flow of experiences, friendships and periodic collaborations of its members with various early music groups and ensembles. It develops his activity by dedicating himself to research of both ancient musical sources and their representation. An ensemble that experiments with musical experiences, finding complicity as the path evolves. The training of each musician in the group was created in the best schools and academies.

Return to the hotel in Pesaro and free dinner.

Day 3 - Pesaro and departure

Breakfast. Transfer to Pesaro.

Visit to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, it is the Duomo of Pesaro and cathedral of the archdiocese of the same name.

The current appearance of the Cattedrale, in which one can read the multiple restorations and renovations that have taken place over the centuries, reflects a thousand-year history. The terracotta façade, dating back to the medieval renovation, retains the layout of the Romanesque basilica. The portal is Gothic in style. The interior, however, shows itself in its nineteenth-century renovation, in a linear neoclassical style. The current floor level dates back to the renovation of the building in the 14th-15th century. The remains of the oldest phases are the splendid mosaic-decorated floors, they are located at an altitude of approximately -1.40/-2.10 m. from the current floor which can be seen thanks to the windows.

We then reach the Chiesa del Nome di Dio, the only building in which there is a synthesis between baroque architecture and scenography.

The Chiesa del Nome di Dio is an artistic jewel of sixteenth-century origin but in 1763 the façade was rebuilt in Istrian stone and restored in 1912. The interior of the church is the real spectacle: all decorated with canvases by the Pesaro painter Gian Giacomo Pandolfi, brother of the Company, who began the work in 1617, covering the entire building from the ceiling to the walls with painted canvases, inserted into the scenographic structures by the architects Giovanni Cortese and Niccolò Sabbatini.

PRIVATE CONCERT - Church of the Name of God in Pesaro
With the San Carlo Choir of Pesaro

The choir is made up of around 30 members and has been active as a musical group since 1982, carrying out an intense activity which has led it to hold numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, also in collaboration with first-rate soloists and orchestras, to successfully participate in national and international festivals.

At the end, farewells and individual departures.
